How To Live With A Snoring Partner

Posted by Phil on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 Under: Snoring

If you think that you snore too loud while you sleep and are embarrassed by it, then you want to read through this article. It provides information about ways to reduce your snoring so that you can sleep soundly and peacefully.

One simple way to reduce snoring is to watch your sleeping position. Lying on your back could cause your head to tilt too far back or forward, resulting in an obstruction of your airway. If you sleep on your side, there will be less of a chance for snoring, because you will not have unnecessary pressure on your neck.

Snoring can be remedied by sleeping propped upon 2-3 pillows or by sleeping in a position similar to sitting. Nasal drainage will not obstruct your nose or throat and go down to your lungs right away. This will help to prevent snoring.

Drink lots of water to help stop snoring. If you're dehydrated, your nasal passage secretions are thicker and stickier, which can clog the airways and cause snoring. Try to consume about 10 cups of water every single day, in order to reduce the chance of you snoring.

You can diminish your snoring by quitting smoking. Another possible solution is to cease smoking each night, several hours before you go to bed. Smoking reduces the amount of space available in your airway by making your throat swell. Constricted airways lead to more snoring, and quitting smoking can stop this problem from occurring in the first place.

Don't drink alcohol right before bed if you want to resolve snoring problems. You will also want to avoid any kind of tranquilizer or antihistamine before you sleep. Alcohol and sleeping pills are muscle relaxants, and therefore cause the muscles in your throat to collapse. These restrict the passage of air through your system, and cause you to snore.

Losing weight will often reduce your snoring. Extra weight around your airway can cause an increase in pressure, which can lead to snoring. This can cause a slight collapse of your airways in the middle of your sleep. Even if you only lose a few pounds, you will notice improvements.

You should limit physical activity an hour prior to your bedtime. If you exercise too close to your bedtime, you might have trouble catching your breath when you lie down. Your airways are then constricted and night-time snoring will be the result.

Get a humidifier for your bedroom. A humidifier will moisten the air in your bedroom. When you inhale the vapour, it moisturizes your airways, including the throat and nasal passages. This will help to reduce your snoring.

If nothing seems to help with your snoring, it may be time to purchase an adjustable bed. These beds let you adjust the upper body to be more vertically-oriented. Your airways will be straighter and less constricted by your body weight in this position, making snoring less likely, and less severe.

Some people have found that internal nasal dilators are an effective means of prevention. Not that many people snore through the nose, but it is a concern for some. Nasal dilators are placed inside your nostrils to help them remain fully open. They can solve the snoring caused by that problem.

You might find that your solution to snoring lies with your dentist. They will be able to make for you a mouth-guard, which is done by taking a mould of the inside of your mouth. By keeping your jaw from falling backwards, such a mouth-guard will prevent your throat muscles from going slack and make snoring less likely while you sleep.

If your partner disturbs you with their snoring, go to bed a bit earlier than your partner and try to get asleep before them so that you can sleep through any noise they make. If you are one of those light-sleepers, it may still be a problem, but it can't hurt to try!

Snoring can cause issues between you and your spouse. Living with a snorer can lead to frustration, poor sleep, anger, and, in the end, sleeping separately. Because this isn't healthy, you should visit your doctor in order to get relief from snoring for you or your partner.

Snoring is embarrassing enough for you, but it can actually prevent those who sleep near you from sleeping soundly and performing at their best during the day. Consider using nasal strips to reduce your snoring.

It is a good idea to avoid eating and drinking (especially alcohol) during the three hours prior to bedtime. This will reduce snoring. Your muscles in your throat can be relaxed by heavy meals and alcohol. This can cause snoring, even if you have never snored before.

After reading these tips, you hopefully won't be as worried about snoring while you sleep. Keep in mind to try these tips out and stay committed to what you choose to really get the most from the advice.
